The Vermiculite arrives...

Pizza 1

This weekend was a total failure when it comes to progress. I got all the materials I ordered from Forno Bravo, but what I really needed was the Vermiculite. Supposedly, I have 3 boxes currently sitting in Roclin on some UPS truck... total bummer. But, I needed a weekend 'off' I think.

Instead, I ended up at Enzo's house, making Pizza's Sunday afternoon. Always, amazing!!! I rolled the dough above...

Fits like a glove part 1

Spending money again...

Last night we ordered vermiculite, which is the insulating material we needed. 168$ for 6 4cf bags. Hope that will be enough.

Another order with http://www.fornobravo.com/ will be placed today to get the refractory mortar, insulating blanked + chimney parts. Hope will be not much over 1000$.

At this point, including the above orders, 2700$

This better be good pizza!!!

Countertop is done

Finished the countertop section Sunday. Turned out nice and straight and as you can see, I used some plywood + 2x4's to represent the drawers. Had to use some extra concrete around and on the top to get the last two cinder blocks to 'hold'. When it's all dry, I'll remove the wood form, and put the drawers back in again. Think it will look nice.

To the right, you can barely see the finished slab. More pictures of that comming soon.

Bench almost ready...

Yesterday the plan was to work on the counter top structure, but I decided that starting to cut cinderblocks with the skill saw around 6 pm was a little too noisy for the neighbours. Instead, I ended up filling the bench with concrete and installing the metal fittings that will hold the 2x4's that will hold the redwood 2x2's. The plan is to stain the wood in some kind of 'wood' color... pfft... leave it alone I say!!!

Riiiiiiiiise!!!!

Great prgress today. Enzo helped me all day, and I must say, didn't
expect to get this much done in one day. Ran out of material twice?!?
Tomorrow, trip to BBQ galore in Folsom to buy the drawers for the left
structure.

Foundation is done.

With the help of 2 friends, two weelbarrels, 27 bags of concrete later, the foundation is completed. Turned out great. Curing now in the backyard, sprinkling it every so often to help the curing process to take as long as possible. Looking nice and flat - ready for 8x8x16 cinderblocks.

Delivery...

3 pallets, 1047$ worth, arrived last Friday. Now we can start building.
